I attended the Business Chicks Breakfast with Sir Richard Branson in Adelaide this morning.
Richard is obviously a high Zoner, and I was delighted to hear his primary messages resonate beautifully with our Zone Philosophy.
In summary, here are his Zoney Tips:
- A business is just a group of people. To succeed in business, this group of people needs to be happy and love coming to work every day. People who are happy don’t leave their companies.
- When people believe that what they do at work actually helps other people in the world and contributes to making the world a better place, they feel passionate, inspired and committed to the business.
- An important trait that you need to possess in business is to be willing to take a risk. If you truly believe that you have a great idea, trust your instincts and give it a go, even if other people say it won’t work for numerous reasons.
- If you heap praise on your people, they will rise up to the occasion and perform at their very best. If you constantly criticize, it demotivates them. The most important lesson Richard’s parents taught him is this: Before you criticize anyone, go and take a look in the mirror and realize that your criticism reflects back on you!
So remember that in order to achieve extraordinary success like Sir Richard Branson, you need to Get in the Zone. When you do, you will spontaneously be living Richard’s philosophy!
