High rope exercises and other team building activities are enjoyable but only work to a small degree to truly create a highly creative and collaborative team. Their effectiveness is rather short-lived.
This is because they don't address the core issues of:
Lack of respect- Lack of trust
- Dislike of difficult people
- Self promotion & competitiveness
- Bully & victim attitudes & behaviour
- Blame and guilt
- Resentment
- Disillusionment
Even one person in your team with any of these issues can cause disharmony and significantly reduce productivity across the whole team. Other team members may react negatively such as aggressive behaviour, sideline them, gossip about them, ignore their input or buy into the issue themselves etc. Some may find the environment so distressing that they leave the organisation.
Perception lenses
Human beings have never been educated to know that they look out into their world with perception lenses that colour their reality.
These perception lenses are made up of beliefs that they have adopted since birth. Many of these beliefs would have been laid down by the time they reach 5 years of age. These beliefs would then form the perception lenses through which they see and judge all the people in their life from then on.
What was believed in the mind of a young child when investigated for truth as an adult can often be seen as untrue. Unfortunately, we have never been taught to question our beliefs. The perception lens of beliefs, laid down as a child, continue to colour our experiences of the people and situations in our lives.
When these perception lenses are removed, we are able to see a new reality. Many of our clients marvel at how instantly the difficult people in their lives have transformed, when they took their perception lenses off.
Debunking your perception lenses is the most efficient and effective method for harmonising interpersonal relationships.
